Colleges can use a score conversion chart to convert scores from one test to the other.
However, you should never assume that a college will take your ACT score if it requires the SAT, or vice versa. Some schools are willing to take either one, even though they have a stated preference or requirement. If you have a much stronger score in one test, but the school requires the other, talk to an admissions officer at the school to see if they are willing to accept either.
