Information adapted from Fiske Guide to Getting Into the Right College.
If you’ve never been on a college campus, you might benefit from visiting a nearby campus just to see what it's like. You don’t have to have started your list of colleges before you walk through a college campus or two.
If it’s convenient for you, you may want to visit a few different types of campuses (public, private, large, small, city, residential, etc.). Even if you don’t think you’re interested in a campus you visit, consider about taking a tour—you might be able to figure out the general type of college that interests you.
You can also walk through the campus with your friends or family, stop in a local restaurant or coffee house, pick up a campus newspaper, wander through the student union, etc. You never know—it might be one of the schools you decide to add to your list.
