Sexual Assault

Information adapted from The Naked Roommate.

Sadly, sexual assault can happen to you (whether you are male or female), so it's important that you know some tips and information to protect yourself.

Harlan Says:

When going out with friends to bars or parties, never leave without everybody you came with, and keep track of each other throughout the evening.

Never give out your number. Even violent crazies can seem normal at first.

Never go home with a stranger.

Never let your friends go home with a stranger.

Never take open cups or drinks from a stranger.

Never walk home alone late at night.

Never be afraid to defend yourself.

If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, go to a hospital and get examined. You can pursue legal charges later, but first, get help.

For support, call a local hospital or crisis hotline or contact the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network(RAINN), by phone at 1-800-656-HOPE or online at www.rainn.org.
